#7953: 2003 59' Fairline Squadron 58

This 2003 59' Fairline Squadron 58 was holed by an underwater obstruction and sank in approximately 17 feet of salt water with the bow remaining above water. The bottom port side of the hull shell is breached. The area is tapered from front to back with the widest penetration at 12 inches. The damage begins 10.6 feet aft of stern at the upper water line and extends aft for 10 feet. The port shaft saver coupling is fractured. The output coupling of the port main engine is protruding through the damage. In addition to the primary impact area, the lower hull has numerous nicks and scrapes. The front of the port engine passed through the deck and sofa into the salon. The sofa is broken in multiple areas. The salon table is saturated with fuel and oil. All upholstery, headliner, carpet and soft wall coverings are saturated with lubrication oil and fuel. The veneers on all the woodwork is delaminating and damaged from exposure to water, lubrication oil and fuel. The galley and all appliances have been submerged and are saturated with fuel and lubrication oil. The heads, wall coverings, cabinetry and machinery have been immersed in salt water and are saturated with fuel and lubrication oil. All electronics, navigation devices, controls and all associated wiring were submerged in sea water and not tested. The devices located at the lower pilot station have also been soaked with fuel and lubrication oil. The AC generator was in operation when vessel sank but was not pickled due to location and safety concerns. Vessel is powered by twin 610hp Caterpillar Diesel inboard engines. The starboard main engine was running at cruise rpm and stopped when seawater was ingested into the air intake. This engine was pickled in October of 2007 but current condition of the starboard engine is unknown. The port engine was not pickled and the electrical portion was not flushed following recovery due to the danger associated with working on that side of the engine room. The port main engine is standing unsupported at the rear of the compartment and could have fallen forward or through the hull bottom making it unsafe to work in those areas. The base pan on the port main engine was fractured by the submerged object. The force of the impact dislodged the port main engine from its mounts. The engine was driven up into the vertical position in which it is in now. Due to the fact the engine was running when it sank, sea water was ingested into the air intake. Bent rods and cylinder scoring in the engine is a possibility. The propellers are bent. The tender was secured to the swim platform and was completely immersed in salt water. Tender engine, electrical and controls not tested. There is no trailer included with this vessel.<p>Florida residents please apply 6% state sales tax. Storage charges will accrue after the 10 day grace period. Loading fees will apply.

#8185: 1989 37' President Double Cabin Motor Yacht

This 1989 37' President Double Cabin was damaged as a result of a fire started in the port aft corner of the aft stateroom most likely in the wiring to an overhead light. A melted light lens was found in the compartment. The only probably source of ignition in the area is the wiring to the overhead light. This vessel had two staterooms and galley down floor plan. The interior is fully finished with teak woodwork and cabinetry which is mostly charred or soot damaged. The fire spread throughout the aft stateroom, causing heat damage and charring the wood paneling and overhead, as well as smoke damage throughout the compartment. The heat of the fire appears to have traveled up the compartment entry in the starboard forward corner of the compartment, which blew out the aft starboard window and allowed the fire to spread into the salon. There is heat damage and charring in the salon as well as heavy smoke damage throughout the salon, galley and the forward compartment of the vessel. There is a dinette that is soot damaged. Anchor was sighted at time of inspection, condition is unknown.
